Gallery and Studio

Our Gallery features the Pottery of Brian Burckhardt, as well as other local artisans, such as painters and metal artists. Our gallery and studio is made from an old barn from West Texas that was disassembled, moved to the Hill Country, and re-built.

Our studio was designed to utilize as many local materials as possible, including:

Rain water collection system to furnish all the water we use for glaze formulation, clay mixing and manipulation on the potters wheel, and clean-up.
Locally mixed clay
Local Cedar ash is used to mix our glazes that provide the vibrant colors in each piece of Hill Country Pottery.

Pottery lessons are available by appointment.  Lessons are $75 per hour, plus clay, with a 2 hour minimum for each lesson.  Group pottery classes are available periodically; our current schedules and pricing are available on our Facebook page, or by contacting us at (830) 446-2957 or Brian@HillCountryPottery.com

We're nestled in the heart of the Texas hills in the Guadalupe River Valley, surrounded by the Hill Country Wineries.  We're near Sisterdale, and 30 minutes from Fredericksburg, Kerrville and Boerne.  45 minutes from San Antonio and 90 minutes from Austin.  738 FM 473, Comfort.  Open daily from 11am to 6pm, closed Tuesdays.

Hand Crafted Pottery Made in the Texas Hill Country,

From the Texas Hill Country

In conjunction with our Spring Show, International sculptor Andy Hancock will be working on new chainsaw wood sculptures on the grounds of Hill Country Pottery.  He'll be cutting, carving, and sanding the entire week of spring break, culminating with a spectacular demonstration during our Spring Show on Saturday, March 21, 1-4pm.   Don't miss this rare opportunity to see Andy create his breathtaking wood carvings, as well as live music, food truck, fresh pottery pieces in our gallery, and live pottery demonstrations.

Our next 4 session pottery classes begin on Saturday March 28.  Students will meet every Saturday for 4 sessions and will create their own hand built, and wheel formed pieces over the course of the workshop. Classes meet on  March 28, and April 11, 18, 25 (no class on Easter weekend). Choose from the 10-12 time slot or 12:30-2:30.  The cost is $200 per person, which includes instruction, full use of our studio, firing of your pieces, and your first bag of clay.  Beginners are welcome, class size is limited to 3 people, and your fee must be paid in full to hold your spot.  Call or e-mail today to register!

We will be closed for our annual winter break, from February 16-20
